Until now, the question of how Mthokoziseni Maphisa was linked to the murder of Senzo Meyiwa has lingered.
According to the State, he was not one of the intruders nor was he linked to the gun believed to have killed the football star.
But during his testimony on Monday, as he read his affidavit for his application for the warrant of his arrest, lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda filled in the blanks.
"He is further linked by means of confession he made to a private person, a close friend about his involvement in this matter. This confession came about in that the suspect requested this private person to establish why Mafika (Bongani Ntanzi) was arrested, upon his return he disclosed that Mafika was not only arrested for ammunition but also for the Meyiwa murder, Maphisa then told the private person to return to Mafika and informed him not to disclose his involvement as he (Mafika) will be assassinated."
The court also heard how it's alleged the fifth accused, Fisokuhle Ntuli, also stayed in the car while Meyiwa was being murdered and he drove the gang to and from the crime scene.
