Ramaphosa: Matric results proof that education system improving

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the matric class of 2023 had made South Africa proud, recording the highest pass rate to date for the country.
The cohort achieved an 82.9% pass rate, an increase of 2.8% from the previous year.
Ramaphosa labelled this as a historic achievement, despite the class of 2023 facing a myriad of challenges, including learning under the difficult COVID-19 pandemic.

The president said this was proof that the education system was steadily improving.
"To achieve an 82.9% pass rate for matriculants, whether they are for bachelors, diplomas or matric certificate, it's a phenomenal achievement. We should be proud as a nation to have a cohort of young people like them."
