Matric class of 2024: Gauteng Education Dept to award top-achieving candidates
Following the announcement of a historic end for South Africa’s 2023 matriculants on Thursday, Gauteng retained its national top three position with an 85.4% overall pass rate.

JOHANNESBURG- The Gauteng Department of Education will award top-achieving matriculants from the province's 2023 cohort in Sandton on Friday morning.
The ceremony, spearheaded by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Education MEC Matome Chiloane, follows a breakdown of the National Senior Certificate exam results on Thursday night.

Gauteng retained its national top 3 position with an 85.4% overall pass rate.
The province's top-performing candidate will be awarded bursaries to study at any South African higher education institution of their choice.
The national pass rate for the Class of 2023 is 82.9% which is an increase of 2.8% from the 80.1% in 2022!
