DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) disaster management teams are on the ground monitoring flood-prone areas in the province.

KZN has been battling heavy rains since 2023, which have caused severe damage to roads, bridges, electricity, and other key infrastructure in the province.

On Wednesday, a level five weather warning for disruptive rain and localised flooding was issued, with a 60% chance of rain forecast for most parts of the province.

KZN Cooperative Governance (COGTA) spokesperson Siboniso Mngadi: "The rain is expected to continue to pour throughout the day as we urge residents, particularly those that are travelling to various destinations, to be extra cautious as some of the places remain flooded."
