Matric results for last 5 years show that the education system stabilising - Motshekga
As the class of 2023 waits in anticipation for the results to be released on Friday, Minister Motshekga said there had been a consistency in the matric results over the years.

JOHANNESBURG - Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said matric results for the last five years showed that the education system in the country was stabilising.
Over 900,000 candidates who wrote their matric exams between October and December last year will receive their results on Friday.
Despite the challenges faced during the exam season, Motshekga said that the results were promising.

As the class of 2023 waits in anticipation for the results to be released on Friday, Minister Motshekga said there had been a consistency in the matric results over the years.
Motshekga said this was extemely encouraging as it provided the department with an opportunity to correct any issues in the system.
"If it's stable, you know where to improve, then you won't have a system that fluctuates all the time."
The class of 2022 had a pass rate of 80.1%, while the class before that had a pass rate of 76.4%.
She said the department was constantly working to improve the curriculum to ensure that it was in line with required skills after candidates completed matric.
