CAPE TOWN - Hout Bay residents are outraged after experiencing chaos over the last month related to water and sewage.
Residents say burst water mains had caused sewage to flow into homes and some areas have been without water for up to four days.
Hout Bay resident, Pip Goode, said that a water pipe close to his property had burst four times in the last month.
"We have to get water from different places because the municipality hasn't been forthcoming with information on where water stations will be."
City Mayco member for water and sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, said that various factors, including safety risks were delaying repairs.
"Over the past few days, the community of Hout Bay has been experiencing a number of severe water outages. This most recent pipe burst is a complex pipe burst due to the high voltage cabling, tree roots and other safety concerns."
Badroodien said that recurring bursts on the pipeline were being resolved.
