JOHANNESBURG - Castle Lite Unlocks with Cardi B is the latest local public event to announce a postponement as a result of government restrictions in light of the coronavirus.

Cardi B was booked to perform on 12 June at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Castle Lite brand director Silke Bucker said: "We share the disappointment of our fans during this time of uncertainty, however, as a brand that cares for its consumers, we cannot ignore the growing concerns for health and safety as a result of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 in South Africa and around the world."

He said the team behind the event was deliberating the matter and that all the necessary updates would be communicated by the end of March.

In South Africa alone, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases is at 116, with government enforcing a travel ban for high-risk countries such as the United State where Cardi B resides.

The brand said it was in communication with all stakeholders including the Bodak yellow singer about paving a way forward.

"We would like to assure you that Castle Lite Unlocks will take place as soon as it is safe to host the coolest Hip-Hop event in South Africa... our ticketing merchant, TicketPro would like to assure all fans who have already purchased tickets to Castle Lite Unlocks that those tickets are still valid," the statement added.
