DURBAN - Senior politicians and government officials have gathered at the Royal Show Grounds in Pietermaritzburg ahead of the opening of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature.

Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini is expected to address those gathered on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaker of the provincial legislature Nontombeko Boyce said former President Jacob Zuma is also expected at the event.

Boyce said: “When we last met, the premier did tell us that he will be present if his health condition is allowing.”

He said they aimed to save over R1 million at this year's opening of the provincial legislature and Wednesday's State of Province Address.
