PRETORIA - Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has urged his compatriots not to panic about the confirmed case of coronavirus announced last week.
He was speaking after the announcements of further infections in Algeria and Egypt brought to six the number of confirmed cases on the African continent.
Buhari said Nigerians would be able to withstand the coronavirus epidemic if they followed prevention guidelines issued by their own government and by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Algeria has confirmed two more cases of Covid-19 and Egypt has one more confirmed case.
Vigilance is the word in African countries.
At least six of them had suspected cases that were subsequently cleared.
The World Health Organisation warned that Africa was the continent most at risk from the virus.
