Lesotho DPP ready to charge PM Thabane with second wife's murder
Lesotho deputy police commissioner Paseka Mokete has confirmed that the director of public prosecutions was ready to charge Prime Minister Tom Thabane with his second wife Lipolelo's murder.
MASERU - Lesotho police said that they were ready to charge the country’s Prime Minister Tom Thabane with the murder of his second wife Lipolelo Thabane.
Deputy police commissioner Paseka Mokete said that the director of public prosecutions would take Thabane to court either on Thursday afternoon or on Friday morning.
Lesotho police wrote to Thabane in December, informing him that his cellphone was called by someone at the scene where his second wife Lipolelo was shot in 2017.
His current wife, Maesaiah, was charged with murder and attempted murder two weeks ago and last week she told a local newspaper that it was her husband’s mobile that was linked not hers.
At the same time, the NEC of Thabane's All Basotho Convention party is meeting to finalise his exit, among other things.
