48 suspects arrested for abalone poaching
The alleged poachers were nabbed in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route Park.
CAPE TOWN – Forty-eight alleged abalone poachers were this week arrested at The Garden Route National Park.
The alleged poachers were nabbed in the Tsitsikamma section of the park.
They were caught with over one hundred and forty kilograms of abalone.
South African national parks spokesperson Nandi Mgwadlamba said, “Forty-eight suspects were caught and apprehended by SANParks rangers as well as the South African Police, for abalone poaching.”
The group is being detained at Plettenberg police station.
