Thabane’s wife Maesaisah a no-show for questioning over Lipolelo’s murder
Tom Thabane's daughter, advocate Nkoya Hlaele, has accused the first lady Maesaiah of being involved in the brutal killing of his second wife Lipolelo Thabane.
JOHANNESBURG – Lesotho Prime Minister Tom Thabane's wife Maesaiah has refused to report to the police, who called her in for questioning in connection with the killing of Thabane's other wife – Lipolelo - in 2017.
Police spokesperson Mpiti Mopeli says the first lady was served with a letter requesting her to report at 11am but she didn't arrive.
Last month, police commissioner Holomo Molibeli wrote to the premier, saying a number at the scene of the shooting called his cellphone.
The Prime Minister’s daughter, advocate Nkoya Hlaele, has accused the First Lady Maesaiah of being involved in the brutal killing of his second wife.
And now a failed attempt by Thabane to remove the police commissioner has resulted in a letter to him, detailing that his mobile was called by the alleged assailants being filed in court for all to see.
Mopeli confirms that Maesaiah was called in for the second time on Friday.
“The investigation has been going on. There are new developments so we need her to come again to clarify some other issues.”
Police say Maesaiah did not give reasons for not presenting herself as requested.
“We don't have a reason, now we will find another means to find another means to find her side of the story.”
Sources have told Eyewitness News that she was rude to messengers and she refused to return documents showing that she received the letter calling her.
