Petrol to go up by 9 cents at midnight
The Energy Department has also announced that diesel will go up by 33.16 cents and paraffin will increase by 8 cents.
JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Energy has announced that the petrol price will increase at midnight by 9 cents per litre.
Diesel will go up by 33.16 cents and paraffin will increase by 8 cents.
Department of Energy spokesperson Robert Maake said the main reason for the adjustment was the inclusion of a carbon tax levy in the price of both petrol and diesel of 10 cents and 9 cents [respectively] a litre. The levy was announced by the minister of finance in February.
"Number two: the oil price increased slightly during the period under review compared to the previous period,” Maake said.
