[LISTEN] Can alcohol help you live longer?

Professor Girish Modi says many factors could have been at play in a study suggesting you swap your apple a day for a glass of wine, therefore, making it difficult to interpret.

JOHANNESBURG – Wits Neurosciences Department's Professor Girish Modi says a lot of factors could have been at play in a study suggesting you swap your apple a day for a glass of wine, therefore, making it very difficult to interpret.

The recent study by the University of California looked at about 1,600 participants over the age of 90.

Modi says the study could’ve been more reliable had they taken a group of 50-year-olds and monitored their behaviours and patterns for a period of time until a certain age and then determined whether wine had any impact on their long lives.
