Who will play Jacob Zuma in Khwezi theatre production?

In the stage adaptation of the book by acclaimed author Redi Tlhabi, JT Medupe plays Khwezi’s uncle, who is named in the book as Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma.

JOHANNESBURG – With just weeks to go until the play Khwezi…Say My Name opens at the State Theatre in Pretoria, we now know the name of the man who will play Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma.

Actor JT Medupe is a graduate of the Tshwane University of Technology Performing Arts faculty whose theatre experience includes Big, Love, Festen, Malibongwe Igama la Makhosikazi, andHansel and Gretel to name but a few.

In the stage adaptation of the book by acclaimed author, Redi Tlhabi called KHWEZI…The remarkable story of Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo, Medupe plays the uncle of the young girl named Khwezi, who grew up in exile as part of a communal village of aunts and uncles who fought an evil system (apartheid). In her quest to know her father, Judson Kuzwayo, and to preserve his political life’s story, Khwezi ends up in Forest Town, where she is sexually appropriated by her father’s former best friend, named in the book as Zuma.

The play is written and directed by poet and playwright Napo Masheane. The show will run from 25 July to 12 August 2018.
