ABUJA - Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari says that he will sign the treaty that seeks to make intra-Africa trade easy and effective only once he has read it properly and weighed his options.

President Cyril Ramaphosa nudged Nigeria on Wednesday to sign the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement that was signed by 44 countries across the continent earlier this year.

Buhari told the media after meeting Ramaphosa yesterday in Abuja that he will have to first consider what impact the agreement will have on his own country's economy.

"In trying to guarantee employment and services for our country, we must be careful with agreements that compete with the success of our own upcoming industries."
