[LISTEN] Hyundai gets red card for worst World Cup ad

JOHANNESBURG – With the World Cup in Russia drawing to a close, many official sponsors of the world football spectacle created TV ads to related to the event.

And South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer Hyundai is no exception.

Talk Radio 702’s Bruce Whitfield spoke to branding and advertising expert Andy Rice, who says Hyundai’s 2018 Fifa World Cup ad featuring Maroon 5 really sucks.

“Not just in my view but it seems to be a very common view. I was aware of the frequency of music played by Maroon 5 as a remake of the old Bob Marley song, Three Little Birds, was getting a little bit tedious. I wasn’t throwing bricks at the TV screen, I wasn’t getting really cross… but what I did discover is how many people are getting cross.”
