JOHANNESBURG – Sixteen people, including four minors, have been arrested for public violence during a service delivery protest in Mohlakeng, in Randfontein.
Residents are out in the streets for a second day on Thursday morning demanding, among other things, jobs.
Police are monitoring the area.
Spokesperson Appel Ernst says: "There’s a group in the area but we have not had any incidences as yet. Protests are still taking place in the area but they’re not barricading the roads, they’re just chanting."
The minors have been released into the care of their parents, while the others will appear in court on Friday.
