Rand Water: Water to be restored to Emfuleni Municipality by Monday afternoon
Residents have been without water since Saturday when the electric cable used to pump water out to consumers was stolen.
JOHANNESBURG - Technicians have now replaced a stolen power cable that lead to major water cuts in areas including Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging, Mogale City and parts of Soweto and Roodepoort but says that supply will only be restored later on Monday afternoon.
Residents have been without water since Saturday when the electric cable used to pump water out to consumers was stolen.
The entire Emfuleni Municipality has been affected.
Rand Water's Justice Mohale says that the reservoir needs to be between 60% and 90% full before water can reach customers.
"The levels have to reach 60-90% before we can send the water to the municipal reservoirs."
Vereeniging power supply: Electricity restored just before 6 this morning and pumping has resumed. Filling of municipal reservoirs will be gradual, estimated that consumers should have water from this afternoon. #watersupplyinterruption
