JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto we Sizwe Veterans Association (MKMVA) has condemned the killing of one of its members at an ANC Youth League regional conference in Mpumalanga.

The MKMVA member was providing security at the league's regional conference on Sunday when he was shot dead at the Badplaas municipal offices where registration was underway.

Several others were assaulted and taken to hospital after the violence.

MKMVA head Kebby Maphatsoe says they want the perpetrator to be arrested.

He says the ANC must take firm action to avoid violence among its members.

“It can’t be our members that are killing each other. It’s wrong. It’s reactionary and counter-revolutionary. Those people do not belong in the ANC, if indeed it’s about political contestation.”
