According to the Vital Stats Public Higher Education 2016, the number of university drop-outs has increased.

CAPE TOWN – What can be done to reduce the drop-out rate at universities in South Africa?

A report indicates that about a third of students who enrolled for a four-year degree in 2011 had dropped out by 2016.

Narend Baijnath, head of the Council for Higher Education, says this is not a new problem, adding plans are in place to reduce the number of drop-outs.
