Ngidi & Markram get national contracts
Cricket SA have announced their contracted list of players for the 2018/19 season, with fast bowler Lungisani Ngidi and opening batsman Aiden Markram earning first national contracts.
JOHANNESBURG - Cricket South Africa have announced their contracted list of players for the 2018/19 season, with fast bowler Lungisani Ngidi and opening batsman Aiden Markram earning first national contracts.
Ngidi and Markram have been the finds for Proteas over the past year, having played starring roles in the Test series wins over Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and India.
Markram has scored 695 runs in 12 innings, including three hundreds and two 50s with an average of 57.91.
He registered his highest test score in the 118-run defeat in the first test against Australia in Durban, scoring 143, while he has also captained South Africa in the ODI series against India in February.
Ngidi has only played two Test matches and four ODI’s for South Africa but has gained great respect from the cricketing fraternity for his impressive performances against India. The 21-year-old took match figures of 7/90 in his debut Test against India at SuperSport Park in Centurion in January.
Veteran fast bowler Dale Steyn also makes the list of what could be his last season of international cricket.
