JOHANNESBURG - The Stormers are sweating over the fitness of a number of players ahead of their final game on tour against the Highlanders in Dunedin on Friday.
Flankers Cobus Wiese and Kobus van Dyk are nursing shoulder and ankle injuries respectively, while winger Seabelo Senatla is struggling with a groin injury. All three players will be given until Wednesday to prove their fitness ahead of the game on Friday.
Lock JD Schickerling will undergo surgery on a torn pectoral muscle and will be out for a period of four months, while Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi has had two abdominal surgeries due to appendicitis and will only return to the playing field in three months’ time.
The Stormers have had a tough tour so far, losing both of their games to the Waratahs in Sydney and the Crusaders in Christchurch. Though they have lost both games, they have produced brave performances and will be looking to finish the tour on a high despite a depleted squad.
