NEW YORK - For the first time in 15 years, the Grammys will take place in New York City.

The awards, which up until now, have been staged in Los Angeles see Jay Z leading the nominations with eight, followed by Kendrick Lamar with seven, South Africa’s own Ladysmith Black Mambazo are up for two awards.

New York is abuzz with pre-Grammy events in the leadup to main show on Sunday.

Critics are wondering if Jay Z will walk away with any of the big three awards.

Despite having 21 Grammy’s to his name, he’s yet to win Album, Record or Song of The Year.

If mega-hit _Despacito _wins Song of The Year, it’d be the first time a primarily Spanish-language track wins that category.

Although they’re up for Best World Music and Best Children’s Album, Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be performing in Burkley, California on their current tour.
