CAPE TOWN - Mariah Carey might not need a lot for Christmas, but the singer's popular Christmas anthem has finally entered the top 10 on the Billboard hot 100 this week.

All I want for Christmas is You reached the number nine spot earlier this week for the first time since its release 23 years ago.

The song first was never eligible to chart because it wasn't commercially available as a single.

The rules, however, changed in 1998 as streaming became a component of the hot 100 formula. The track then jingled its way onto the charts.

The song is Carey’s 28th top 10 hit on the chart.
