JOHANNESBURG - The ANC briefs the media on peace and stability commission at the 54th ANC national conference at Nasrec, Johannesburg.

South Africa remains “relatively stable” from a security perspective, but there’s always a threat of a so-called “colour revolution”.

The ANC’s David Mahlobo made the comments during his report back on the policy decisions of the party’s national conference.

The term “colour revolution” has entered the South African political vocabulary of late, and refers to elements of regime change.

Following the party’s policy conference in July, Mahlobo, who was then State Security Minister, said the ANC faced the threat of regime change through what it calls a “colour revolution”.

Mahlobo says the threat remains.
