Masina: Branches have no choice but to rally behind Ramaphosa
Mzwandile Masina, who was previously quoted as saying he will resign if Cyril Ramaphosa becomes the next ANC president, has welcomed the election results.
JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) Ekurhuleni Chair Mzwandile Masina, who was previously quoted as saying he will resign if Cyril Ramaphosa becomes the next ANC president, has welcomed the election results saying he will work with the party’s new leader.
Masina was speaking on the sidelines of the ANC’s elective conference on Wednesday.
“I will not serve under Ramaphosa.”
This quote on online news site News24 was attributed to Masina.
Now, he’s welcomed Ramaphosa’s election as president.
“I welcome and accept the outcome of the elections and within that, all of us must rally behind the elected leaders. A special congratulation to Ramaphosa.”
He says the story about him refusing to serve under Ramaphosa is false.
“It’s the lowest level of journalism.”
When he was asked if he has confidence in the new ANC president, he said he and branches have no choice but to rally behind him.
