‘Dlamini Zuma camp will include Ramaphosa’s supporters in NEC’
Sihle Zikalala says a court ruling nullifying the ANC KZN conference will not affect a Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma victory.
JOHANNESBURG - Former African National Congress (ANC) KwaZulu-Natal chairperson Sihle Zikalala says supporters of Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will make sure Cyril Ramaphosa and the members of his slate are added onto the party's national executive committee (NEC) to ensure unity.
Zikalala was speaking at Nasrec in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.
He is attending this conference as an ordinary delegate following a High Court judgment which ordered that the KwaZulu-Natal provincial executive committee must vacate office.
Zikalala, however, says this will not affect a Dlamini Zuma victory.
“Against all odds, we’re fine, we’re unshaken and we remain firm that the ANC is going to emerge united under the leadership of comrade Nkosazana.”
And when asked what would happen to Ramaphosa if he loses.
He said: “Even if Nkosazana emerge [victorious], we’re going to support Ramaphosa and we’ll put him as an additional member. So that question is irrelevant because Cyril will enjoy our support and we will put him as an additional member.”
Earlier on Sunday, deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte said they are hoping to announce the ANC’s new president on Monday morning.
