CT's natural hair fest aims to empower

CAPE TOWN - More than a thousand people are flocking to Cape Town's biggest natural hair festival - and one of the country's biggest - today.

Blaauwberg will see 'fros, curls, dreads, braids and many more hairstyles rocking it out at the Cape Town Naturally Hair Fest.

Festival-goers can expect beauty activitations, hairstyle demonstrations, and experts on hand to answer any hair or beauty-related questions.

One of the organisers, Simone Thomas, says events like these give people the opportunity to learn about more than just hair.

"This empowers, not just for yourself but also for you to effect change, in the sense of with your circle of friends, your family, your community, so that we can embrace our beauty and who we are."
