Analyst and host Karima Brown talks to Stephen Grootes about the latest on the credentials list at the ANC conference.

She says ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa's initial statement was that South Africa would know who the new president of the ANC is by Sunday morning.

It's almost Sunday noon, and he just told you that by Wednesday when this conference is finished we will know who the new leadership is. And I think therein lies the rub.

She says the reason we do not have the name of the new ANC president is that the plenary was adjourned on Saturday night.

Shortly before that deputy general secretary Jessie Duarte indicated the credentials were not ready, and they are still not ready. And I suspect they are not going to be ready for hours.

She believes the ANC is involved in intense haggling.

There are a lot of complaints that there are bogus delegates here.

Gwede Mantashe had said that branches contaminated in terms of the court ruling would be present as non-voting delegates, she recalls.

That is, in my view, a recipe for disaster...Where there are concerns around vote-buying...Having people who are disqualified from voting by a court of law, present at the conference sets you up for a disaster.

Vukane Mde made a critical point last night. The court did not rule that these delegates are not allowed to not only vote. They are illegal. They are not supposed to be here in any capacity. They can't drink coffee here, they can't make policy here, they can't vote here, and of course, they are here. And that is part of the problem.
