'ANC credentials process handled well'
Political analyst Mcebisi Mdletyana says the credentials part of the conference is the most crucial as it determines its credibility.
JOHANNESBURG - As African National Congress (ANC) delegates start the process of voting for the nominated candidates, some political analysts have commended the manner in which the ruling party has handled its credentials process.
On Saturday, some delegates were unable to get their accreditation claiming bogus members were put on the list to represent their regions.
The ANC adopted its credentials with no disputes earlier on Sunday which means all party members are satisfied with the process.
Political analyst Mcebisi Mdletyana says the credentials part of the conference is the most crucial, as it determines its credibility.
“So, the way in which they dealt with their credentials testifies to that especially because it was extremely quick. So, based on that, it’s going well.”
Mdletyana says the manner in which the ANC handled the process shows a concerted effort to avoid delays by legal battles.
“There’s alertness and keenness to ensure that this conference is not delayed by legal challenges.”
The ANC is expected to announce its new president on Monday.
