CAPE TOWN - Harfield residents are up in arms about an apparent increase of prostitution along Kenilworth Road.

The Claremont Community Police Forum's Abdul Kerbelker says they’ve received numerous complaints from residents regarding the matter.

Kerbelker says it’s a growing concern in their neighbourhood.

“We call on law enforcement. People are feeling that their privacy is being invaded and they are all for having a normal interaction, but coming in with your family and to be confronted with the issue of sex workers soliciting customers ... how do you manage that?”

Meanwhile, Claremont Ward Councillor Ian Iversen echoes these sentiments.

He says it’s a community issue and calls on residents to work together.

Iverson adds the police need to address the situation.
