CAPE TOWN - A blind South African Police Service switchboard operator says he hopes furthering his education will brighten his career prospects.
Ornette Danse is among the Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s class of 2017.
The ambitious father of two earned himself a diploma in public management, and now wants to tackle post graduate studies.
“I want to do my BTech in public management. Next on my list is to apply for a promotion to better my life. I won’t be able to live out my dream as a 10111 call centre agent. I want to be in management.”
Since matriculating, Danse says his biggest ambition was always to work at the police switchboard.
Fast forward a decade and Danse has used that same determination to complete his diploma in public management.
The father of two also boasts a flare for languages. While studying part-time, he has earned himself at least 10 distinctions over the period of his studies.
