Reappointed Ondruska has big plans for SA tennis
Tennis South Africa announced on Monday that Marco Ondruska’s contract as Davis Cup Captain, has been extended by a further three years, keeping Ondruska in charge until the end of the 2020 Davis Cup campaign.
JOHANNESBURG- Tennis South Africa announced on Monday that Marcos Ondruska’s contract as Davis Cup captain, has been extended by a further three years, keeping Ondruska in charge until the end of the 2020 Davis Cup campaign.
Ondruska, who was ranked as high as number 27 in the world, had a record of 13 wins and nine losses in Davis Cup and played along Wayne Ferreira and Grant Stafford.
He will be assisted by two consultants, one being former ATP and Davis Cup player Jeff Coetzee and the second to be announced later, in an effort to build a team for the future.
Ondruska says that he is excited to stay on with the team.
“I’m ecstatic to be reappointed as South Africa’s Davis Cup captain for the next three years. We have had a really good run up until now, and moving up from Euro Africa Group 1 to Euro Africa Group 2 has been a real accomplishment.”
The former tennis player also outlined his plans for the future.
“The next three years we will make a huge push for the World Group which is something that has been a goal since I started here.”
