JOHANNESBURG- The ebb and flow of the Premier Soccer League continued on Sunday as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Golden Arrows 1-0 at the Princess Magogo Stadium to top the log.

The match was filled with entertaining moments from start to finish. The Brazilians found the back of the net as early as the fifth minute, when Ivorian central defender Soumahoro Bangaly, reacted first to the second ball after the Arrows keeper fumbled a corner kick, which Soumahoro showed great composure to convert.

"Abafana Besthende" then went on the immediate attack five minutes later, as Kudakwashe Mahachi’s thunderous long range effort bounced off the cross bar and back into the field of play.

The match continued to produce plenty of goal scoring opportunities for both sides but none of them could convert, as Soumahoro’s fifth minute goal separated the two sides, and ensured that Sundowns moved up to the summit of the log, while Golden Arrows slipped down to ninth. The result also means that Sundowns have now won four of their last five league matches and hold a two-point advantage despite having played three fewer games than their nearest chasers.

In the others results from the weekend’s PSL action, Kaizer Chiefs broke their winless streak by beating Platinum Stars 1-0. Baroka FC’s early season form has evaded them and went down 3-0 to Maritzburg United, SuperSport United and Cape Town City played out to a 1-1 draw. Bottom of the log Bidvest Wits could only manage to secure a point from their 1-1 draw with Polokwane City, while Bloemfontein Celtic thrashed Free State Stars 3-0 in the Free State derby.
