WC law enforcement operations net 2,000 suspects

Police and other law enforcement bodies have intensified their crime blitzes as the festive season approaches.

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape law enforcement officers have had their hands full over the past weekend.

Several crime crackdowns were carried out over the past three days.

The operations across the Cape were aimed at serious and violent crimes.

Police and other law enforcement bodies have intensified their crime blitzes as the festive season approaches.

Between Friday and Sunday more than 2,000 suspects were rounded up.

Fifteen murder suspects were arrested, while a further three were nabbed for attempted murder.

Seven people were taken into custody and charged with rape. Thirty-four alleged burglars were also apprehended.

The majority of the arrests were for drug-related offences.
