CAPE TOWN - Sentencing proceedings against convicted wife killer Christopher Panayiotou and his accomplices get underway in the Port Elizabeth (PE) High Court on Friday.

The PE businessman was found to have hired men to kill teacher Jayde Panayiotou in April 2015.

The triggerman died while awaiting trial and the middleman turned state witness.

The court ruled Panayiotou paid middleman Luthando Siyoni to find hitmen to murder his wife.

Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, Sinethmeba Nenembe and Zolani Sibeko were all involved in the kidnapping and murder.

Judge Dayalin Chetty found a secret video recording between Panayiotou and the middleman proved the businessman was complicit in his wife's killing.

The court will on Friday hear whether the defence will appeal the guilty verdict that was handed down on Panayiotou’s 31st birthday earlier this month.
