Joburg-born actor Andreas Damm, who lives in New York, says he had some trepidation in taking on the role of Pistorius.

However, Damm says he auditioned for the role because of the complexity of the character.

“It’s an Icarus story really. For any actor it’s a huge challenge and we strive on challenges. When it came my way, I thought it would be a good challenge.”

He says he’s aware people will have many opinions about the movie.

“It’s a dramatisation of something based on real events. I am not here to sway opinions, I am here as an actor telling a story.”

He believes it’s a story worth telling, even though the film is not an authorised biography.

The movie airs in South Africa on 18 November. The movie, presented by the Lifetime Channel, will start at 8pm on DStv's channel 131.
