[ALERT] UKZN psychology students to rewrite exams after papers leaked
In a statement, UKZN says the leaking of four psychology exam papers has caused great anxiety for both students and administrators but a rewrite is the best solution.
DURBAN - Psychology students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) will have to rewrite their exams after four papers were leaked on social media.
UKZN says it's moving swiftly to identify the culprits involved and will start disciplinary procedures against them.
In a statement, UKZN says the leaking of four psychology exam papers has caused great anxiety for both students and administrators but a rewrite is the best solution.
It says new papers have been prepared and in future, it will ensure the process is secured.
“UKZN received information that four examination papers in the discipline of psychology, that had already been written, were leaked,” the institution said in a statement.
University authorities say an investigation confirmed that the exam papers were circulated on social media.
“In the interest of maintaining academic integrity, all affected psychology students will have to rewrite the examinations. Supplementary examinations will be available to the students as per prevailing policy. Going forward we have taken the necessary steps to ensure that the examination process has been secured.”
UKZN says exams are an integral part of their education system.
This is not the first scandal to rock the institution, earlier this year officials at UKZN’s medical campus were found guilty of selling admissions to the Health Sciences Faculty for up to half a million rand.
