Bafana sweat over injury concerns to key duo

Bafana Bafana need to win both games against Senegal to gain qualification for the World Cup in Russia next year.

JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana have received another injury scare ahead of Friday night’s World Cup Qualifier clash with Senegal, with the news that captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has a contusion on his big toe.

Bafana team doctor, Thulani Ngwenya, confirmed that Hlatshwayo has a contusion on his big toe, but is confident that the defender will be ready for the must-win game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is due to undergo more scans to determine the extent of his facial injury.

Khune fractured a bone in his face during Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 TKO victory over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

Bafana need to win both games against the Lions of Teranga to gain qualification for the World Cup in Russia next year.

Kickoff is at 19h00 on Friday evening.
