JOHANNESBURG - The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has suspended two traffic officers who were caught on camera showing off money.

The two officers are seen in full uniform, with loud music playing in the background, showing off lunch packs littered with bank notes and appeared to be eating the money.

The pair had been deployed to the Thokoza precinct and will remain on suspension for a period of three months pending the investigations.

Spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said: “There are certain things that you may not do if you’re in a uniform. The act is deemed to be dishonourable to the uniform, bringing the department and the employee himself into disrepute. It is also against standing orders which says they must act in a professional manner.”
