At least 28 killed in Eritrean protests

JOHANNESBURG – It’s being reported that at least 28 people have been killed in rare protests in one of the world's most reclusive nations, Eritrea.

According to local media, more than 100 people were injured in the protests in the capital Asmara that broke out on Monday and quickly escalated.

It’s not yet clear what sparked the demonstrations and Eritrea's information minister appears to be downplaying the scale of the violence.
