JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Alliance (DA) wants officials at the Kutuma Senthumile Maximum Security Prison in Makhado, Limpopo to give Parliament a full report on the circumstances surrounding the escape of seven convicts.

The inmates broke out of the facility on Thursday, prompting a manhunt.

Since then at least four have been rearrested.

The DA’s Glynnis Breytenbach says what transpired is unacceptable.

“We can’t be having sentenced prisoners running around the landscape. The prison needs to jack up its security and give an explain how on earth this happened in the first place.”
