JOHANNESBURG – Zimbabwe's Lupane State University has conferred President Robert Mugabe with an honorary doctorate in agricultural science.

The university says it saw this fit because of the president's work in promoting the growth of agriculture in the country and his concern for the continent.

The state university's vice chancellor Professor Pardon Kuipa praised Mugabe's land redistribution exercise and his introduction of what he says are vibrant agro-processing ventures in the country.

This accolade brings to twelve the number of honorary degrees conferred on the Mugabe with three previously revoked by other universities.
