Wits University's SRC has called for a national day of action and says it stands in solidarity with universities that have already embarked on a shutdown.
There have been similar protests at the University of the Free State where violent confrontations have played out over the past week.
Students are now demanding answers from President Zuma regarding their fate for free higher education.
UCT's SRC's Sinawo Thambo said: “This is something that we have been told to wait for, even when we’re protesting we’re told we’re being impatient, we’re being irrational.”
While Wits SRC's Kaamil Ali says they believe a national day of action will send a strong message to government.
“We want the fee commission report to be out as soon as yesterday.”
At the same time, UCT's spokesperson Elijah Moholola say they cannot shed light on whether there will be any fee increments next year without the report being made public.
“Without that report, there’s no way that an institution can come out and say we are increasing fees.”
Zuma received the report about two months ago and promised to study it and its recommendations before releasing it.
