[UPDATE] Protesting UCT & CPUT students disperse
Besides demanding a zero-fee increase, the students are also calling for the release of the Fees Commission report.
CAPE TOWN - Students protestors have dispersed from outside the gates of Parliament. There were reports of clashes with police and the arrest of one student.
Earlier there were disruptions at various campuses as students from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) held protests.
Besides demanding a zero-fee increase, the students are also calling for the release of the Fees Commission report.
Some students are worried they won’t be able to finish their academic year if protests continue.
One student told EWN the march will have a negative effect on her studies.
“Campuses are no longer safe for students because at any minute protesting students can come into a class and chase us out.”
