CAPE TOWN - A man has been shot and killed on a Klapmuts farm near Stellenbosch.

Police say members were called out to the scene shortly after midnight.

An unknown number of suspects fled the scene.

Police say the man was investigating a noise in his house when he was attacked and shot by gunmen. He died in hospital.

This is the fourth attack on a farm in the Western Cape this month.

Two suspects attacked a farmer in Plettenberg Bay on Sunday morning.

Earlier this month, a farm owner near Ceres was stabbed and injured in a home invasion.

Another farmer was killed in Philadelphia on the West Coast.

AfriForum has raised concern over the recent spate of attacks on farms in the Western Cape.

AfriForum's Ian Cameron said: “It really is shocking to see that there’s such a sudden increase in farm attacks, and specifically murders in the Western Cape. Whereas we are quite used to seeing the Western Cape as being quite a bit more quiet regarding this specific crime. I think it is something that is going to increase even more in the coming months.”
