Cape Town battles spate of child murders

CAPE TOWN - With murders on the increase nationally, Cape Town is grappling with another spate of child killings.

Two children have been murdered in the city, within a matter of days.

The body of a 10-year-old girl Manenberg girl was discovered on Friday.

On Sunday night, a 5-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Delft.

Two men charged with the murder of 10-year-old Manenberg girl, Charnelle McCrawl, are expected to make their first court appearance on Wednesday.

She was last seen alive making her way to school last Thursday.

The police's Andre Traut said: “Originally, four suspects were arrested but after further investigation, two of the suspects have been released as they could not be linked to the crime.”

In Delft, a man's been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a 5-year-old boy.

The murder occurred late Sunday night.

In both of these cases, relatives have been taken into custody.
