JOHANNESBURG – As matrics around the country prepare to sit for the final senior certificate exams next week, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has wished the class of 2017 well.

Nearly 800,000 candidates are expected to write this year’s exams.

Earlier this month, quality assurance body Umalusi said it was pleased with the state of readiness

Motshekga has urged pupils to study hard and do their best.

“I’m confident that you’ll make us proud. After at least 12 years in the education system, you owe it to yourselves to put your all into these examinations so that you’re able to take advantage of post-schooling opportunities. So once more, good luck and we ask you to do your best.”
