CAPE TOWN - The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) says it wants the court to declare former South African Airways board chair Dudu Myeni a delinquent director and her to be prevented from acting as a director or serve on any board in any company for up to seven years.

It says such a sanction will send a message to the government that competent, skilled and experienced individuals should be appointed to lead our state-owned enterprises.

In a major shake-up, Myeni was removed from the national carrier which has been surviving on a multi-billion-rand bailout.

Outa says Myeni has no ability as a director and should not serve on any board.

Outa’s Wayne Duvenage said: “We cannot have her moving from one board, chairing one board to the next and so on, as we know she is on the board of the South African Water Utilities. And we want her moved from these boards, or any senior position for that matter because of her conduct. She is unfit to serve on the board of any organisation due to her conduct.”
